My Review

Shantilal Snack is a busy and beloved roadside eatery located on Jackson Avenue in Quatre Bornes, Mauritius. Known for its outstanding minne bouillie, the dish is served with your choice of chicken or mutton and a generous helping of five different satini chutneys. The flavours are rich, the portions hearty, and the prices affordable, making it a go-to spot for locals craving authentic Mauritian street food. The atmosphere is casual and efficient—orders are taken quickly and names are called when meals are ready. With its consistent quality and warm service, Shantilal Snack has become a staple in the local food scene.

Honestly, one of the best mine bouille i’ve had in a while. The portion was generous and full of flavour. The chutney on the side gave it a nice kick. Perfect for a rainy day or when you’re just craving something warm and satisfying. Highly recommend 👌

The Noodles are best (boiled or fried) with a touch of mauritian style. Prices are very affordable. The location is not the best but it’s super crowded.

Clean and safe place. Service was good and quick. Mine bouille (boiled noodle) was excellent with a variety of chutney. Portion served was sufficient. Just wished there was different variety of toppings apart from chicken and mutton. Highly recommended tho.

Hike for a Bite

Cascade kaya

Cascade Kaya is a peaceful waterfall tucked away in nature, making it a perfect spot to enjoy your food surrounded by calm and beauty. The sound of the water gently flowing down the rocks creates a soothing backdrop, while the shade from the surrounding trees keeps the place cool and refreshing. Sitting by the cascade with a packed meal feels like stepping into a private retreat, far from the rush of daily life. It’s great for a picnic with friends or even a quiet escape on your own. Eating here is as much about the atmosphere as it is the food.
