Perched about 500 metres above sea level along the scenic Plaine Champagne road, Varangue Sur Morne is a refined dining destination set within a beautifully restored colonial lodge. With sweeping views of the Black River Gorges, tea fields, and even Le Morne in the distance, the setting is tranquil and breathtaking. The restaurant features warm wooden interiors, a wide veranda, and an atmosphere that blends elegance with rustic charm. The menu showcases Mauritian and French-inspired cuisine with touches of Middle Eastern flavour—highlight dishes include coconut shrimp, wild boar stew, palm heart salad with smoked marlin, and eggplant-shrimp curry. Service is warm and professional, though it may slow down during peak hours. A perfect spot for a scenic and memorable lunch in Chamarel.

It’s like you are eating in the woods. Heaven view from the restaurant. Delicious food and the menu has a large variety. Very professional staff and friendly hosts. Each time I go there I enjoyed the food.

Veryyy nice place! You get the view of le morne mountain! The food is mange creole, mais ” plus bon ki manger lakaz”. 😄 You can have lentil with food but a different and yummy one! Really like the food and the restaurant owner is very gentil. Very friendly and take care of its clients! Just that you need to be there when the weather is good else you don’t have a good view!
